And he makes them pay every day.
On Monday, he tweeted:
The GDP Rate (4.2%) is higher than the Unemployment Rate (3.9%) for the first time in over 100 years!
The media hopped right on that.
CBS News reported, "Fact check: Is Trump right on a 100-year record for GDP and unemployment?"
I read that headline and began laughing.
Way to remind people that employment and the economy are up, up, and away.
CBS News reported, "Economic growth reached 4.2 percent at an annualized rate in the second quarter, while the unemployment rate stands at 3.9 percent. Yet GDP growth has exceeded the unemployment rate more than a dozen times since the late 1940s, such as during the economic expansions of the 1950s and the late 1990s."
Hahaha.
The Washington Post reported, "Trump touts an economic metric not seen in the U.S. since ... Bush."
Hmm. Who was the president between President Trump and Bush?
President Trump's imperfect tweet was a perfect way to get the press to undercut Obama hitting the campaign trail and taking credit for the Trump Triumph.
The political reporters fall for it every time. He is not playing 3-D chess. He is playing tic-tac-toe with them.
They think he's a dope because they don't realize he is beating the tar out of them.
