I am briefly surfacing to catch my breath, thought I'd squeeze in a quick post but realise that I have not much to say. It is a bit concerning because I have always got something to say. I also haven't got a single new photograph bar the one of Alistair above, wearing his favourite ever socks. I am regretting not using my camera this past weekend, it was a complete whiteout here, beautiful. We don't get snow often but when we do, we love it while it lasts. James and Alistair spent large parts of Saturday and Sunday outside, theirs was one epic snowball fight. We had several pairs of mittens and other essential snow gear on rotation. Annie joined them for a good while, which was nice. Jack loves the snow. His inner puppy is reawakened whenever there is white stuff on the ground. His white fur doesn't look all that white against the brilliant white of the snow! I enjoyed the snow mostly from the comfort of my sewing room and on Sunday only left the house because I had a work dinner scheduled.
This evening, when I found myself staring at hot cross buns in Tescos I was overcome by sheer exhaustion. I couldn't for the life of mine remember why I had come to Tescos in the first place. I walked up and down the isles, trying to remember. It occurred to me this "walk" was the only exercise I had today. I took the car to work so I could dash out for two hours to record a lecture off campus. It was a the air ambulance base and I was treated to a tour after the recording. Most interesting I have to say. The rest of the day I spent listening to other lectures. One was on mental health in low resource settings. It was an eyeopener and I am grateful to live in a country where mental health services are available and improving (although far from perfect). I was sad to miss the lecture on health economics in low resource settings, something which I am increasingly interested in. I'll treat myself to the recording when I have a couple of hours spare time. Far more interesting than the news and more inspiring, too.
I did evenuqtlly remember what I had gone to Tescos for. I am in my pyjamas now, trying to resist the hot cross buns that seem to have hopped into my shopping basket without me noticing.
Keep warm and dry my friends. Thanks for stopping by. xx
