Have you ever wondered where the elves go when they leave Middle Earth? The Lord of the Rings is full of references to the elves leaving, sailing into the west. The Silmarillion is the massive history of J.R.R. Tolkien's world, from creation through to the Third Age. I read The Silmarillion and it has a lot of fascinating information. It's also very dense, and while I have no desire to read it again (I prefer Unfinished Tales), it does show us a bit of Valinor.
