THIS SONG IS GIVING ME LIFE! After courageously battling cancer for an unfortunate second time, cancelling plans for a 2013 tour in support of
It's A Man's World and having not released an album of original material since 2008, ultimate vocal powerhouse diva Anastacia is making a triumphant return, not that she ever truly left, with the first offering from her upcoming sixth studio album,
Resurrection.
With her trademark early rock/pop sound, Anastacia thankfully delivers "
Stupid Little Things" with the energy and attitude we have come to expect from her releases since coming onto the music scene with "I'm Outta Love" in 2000. The artist is known for her show-stopping vocal performances and, like a glorious sign from the gods up above, it is Anastacia's voice which remains the highlight of the new single. The love track is angst-y, its production is hard and crisp and in the end, is a strong comeback for an extremely underrated talent.
"
Now I know what love is worth in a broken world, but I can't get past the hurt, 'til I give up on these stupid little things," Anastacia sings of her desperate attempt to look past all the nonsense in a relationship to focus on the love for one another. While the verses of the newly released track are well-written and perfectly delivered, they all just build up until listeners get what they really want... that chorus! It soars and showcases the strength, both physically and vocally, of Anastacia. Not since the brilliant "
Left Outside Alone" has the artist sounded like she was giving it her everything. Wow.
"
Stupid Little Things" does sound as if it could be sung by P!nk or any other pop/rock artist, but it sounds honest and right coming from Anastacia. The new single shows a return to her early career days, a focus on heavy-hitting rock-like tunes that do hold some meaning. Not just the generic party pop song. As a lead offering, it does a great job at bringing the artist back into the spotlight where she rightfully belongs. Songwriting is on point, production is slightly infectious and the vocals are as amazing as they have ever been.
Resurrection is set for a May release.
