Shortly after launching her solo career with "Youth" in 2012, British singer-songwriter Foxes joined forces with Zedd on "Clarity" and nabbed herself the GRAMMY Award for Best Dance Recording. While that is a feat which should not be ignored, it pales in comparison to the artist's two phenomenal studio albums released in subsequent years.
Foxes' debut album Glorious hit shelves in 2014. Pop tracks such as "Holding Onto Heaven" and "Let Go for Tonight" received critical acclaim and UK chart success. In the U.S., it was unfortunately a different story.
So, the artist switched creative gears for sophomore album All I Need, incorporating more 80s synthpop inspiration on tracks such as "Body Talk" and "Amazing". The effort also included brilliant hidden gems like "Cruel" and "Devil Side". However, the album failed to match the UK success of its predecessor. It didn't make an impact in the U.S. either.

Following a four-year hiatus, Foxes now returns with the first official taste of a highly anticipated third album. The new "Love Not Loving You" pushes the artist in a funk-driven direction, opening with 8-bit synths and a bouncy overall production as she begins to move on from the one she thought could be the love of her life.
Instead, the relationship has now ended. While Foxes appreciates all the good times the two shared, she is now at the point of full breakup recovery. So as the artist smiles while remembering the joyous early days of a blossoming relationship, she's also celebrating finally detaching herself from an unappreciative partner.
"You broke me out of a fever, you make me feel like someone else, you make me dance like I mean it, now I love, now I love, now I love not loving you," she belts with exuberance on the energetic chorus.
"Love Not Loving You" succeeds by taking normally somber subject matter and turning it into an ode of liberation and perseverance. Foxes might have once relied on someone else to improve her own happiness, however, she is now standing on her own two feet and learning to love herself again. Pairing that concept with uptempo production will send listeners straight to the dance floor, a la Robyn.
After a well-deserved break, Foxes' return to the music scene was initially surrounded in mystery. As her first release under a new partnership with PIAS Recordings, "Love Not Loving You" serves as a fun anthem of strength and resilience. While some may feel incomplete without a significant other by their side, the artist questions whether we can be content with just loving ourselves.
